Robert Shepherd / Chairman
Rob is a leading local Advocate who arrived in Guernsey when he joined Mourant Ozannes in 1999 from Clifford Chance in London. He was the Managing Partner of the firm's Guernsey office from 2005 to 2013 when he was appointed Senior Partner. He has been Chairman of the Guernsey Cheshire Home for six years and is a very pro-active member of the board. He's happy to turn out for the Home's football Muratti team against the Jersey Cheshire Home team.
Barrie Duerden / Director
Barrie Duerden is an experienced financial services professional from Guernsey and has more than 25 years’ experience in the investment and wealth management industry. He began his career in accountancy before moving into Investment Management, joining Credit Suisse in 1987 and working in a variety of private client and investment management roles in Guernsey, Switzerland and New York. Barrie is an extreme runner and has achieved many challenging runs and in 2016 will attempt two 100 mile runs in aid of Guernsey Cheshire Home.
Justine Mallet / Director
Justine has recently joined Investec’s Private Client team in Guernsey following a sucessful career in Private Banking with ABN Amro. Justine is a chartered member of both the Institute of Financial Services and the Securities Institute, and has over 25 years’ experience in the finance industry. Justine is an active board member and fund raiser.
David Leafe / Director
David is a HR consultant who has developed a career in international finance. He is also Chairman of the GTA University Centre. David assists the Home's management in all facility and building aspects. He is responsible for maintaining the infrastructure and sustainability of the building and the services provided.
Susan Bowditch / Secretary
Susan has been involved with the Guernsey Cheshire Home since 2007, originally as Secretary to the Foundation Committee, and since 2010 when Guernsey Cheshire Home was incorporated as a company limited by guarantee, as Secretary to the Board of the LBG. Susan has worked in the finance industry in Guernsey for more than 30 years, primarily in the fiduciary sector, in a variety of company secretarial and compliance roles.
Jon Taylor / Marketing and Fund Raising
Jon is responsbile for setting the marketing and fund raising strategy for the Home. He has run two successful advertising and marketing businesses prior to devoting his time to helping the Home. He was editor of the Guernsey Chamber of Commerce's Contact magazine for seven years. Jon is also responsbile for running the Northerners AC football club youth and minis section.
Cherry McMillen, Patron.
Cherry McMillen was born and brought up in Northern Ireland until she was 13 years when her family moved to England. She was educated in Belfast and read history at the University of Warwick where she graduated with an Honours degree in 1977. She converted to law and following articles in London, she was admitted as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court in 1984. She was a partner of Wallace Bogan from 1989 to 1992 specialising in family, criminal and housing law. She left in 1992 to set up in practice as a principal of her own firm specialising in family and criminal law. She gained additional experience as a Duty Court and Police Station Solicitor commencing in 1986 and as a Law Society Children's Panel member commencing in 1988.
She was appointed a Deputy District Judge (Magistrate's Court) a part time judicial appointment which she held from 1999 to 2004. Cherry, was recruited to the Royal Court in Guernsey in 2004 and promoted to Lieutenant Bailiff in 2005. In 2009, she was appointed as a Judge of the Magistrates Court. Since coming to the Island she has taken the opportunity to learn and play Bridge and is a dedicated and prolific fund raiser for the Home.
